What is DU Arcade?

The University of Denver Game Developers' Society is hosting the 6th annual DU Arcade on Saturday, May 18th, 2024. DU Arcade is Colorado's largest student-organized gaming expo, uniting developers, innovators, and players in a celebration of the games that bring us together. DU Arcade is also a venue for presentations, panels and discussions about the techniques, tools, and opportunities that drive the gaming industry.

What time is the showcase?

DU Arcade runs from 12 PM until 5 PM on May 18th!

Is it okay to show up late?

Of course! The expo will be going from 12 PM until 5 PM, and we'll have various other attractions throughout the day (look for an expo schedule closer to the date of the event). The expo does have a lot to offer, though, so give yourself as much time to explore as you can!

Is there an entry fee?

Nope!

I forgot to register. Can I still come?

Please register. It helps us plan our limited space to make sure there is enough room for everyone to enjoy the games comfortably. We will admit people at the door if the show floor is underpopulated, but if there are too many people at the expo, we will only be admitting guests who have RSVPed. Besides, checking in at the door goes faster if you have already registered.

My friend is not registered, but I want to bring them. Can they come?

See above.

What's the parking situation?

Parking options (free and paid) are detailed on our Location & Parking page. We will also release a parking map closer to the date of the event. Unfortunately, it would be very hard (and expensive!) for us to provide parking for all of our guests. For those using public transit, there is a light rail station (the University of Denver station) close to the expo! It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the station.

Are the expo games for sale? Who's presenting?

We'll have a diverse group of projects on the show floor - some first games, some extremely polished games, some newly-developed games, some Steam games. There are also many different types of games you might see. In the past, we have received submissions for video games, AR and VR games, board and card games, and even a tabletop RPG!

Similarly, we are host to a wide array of developers - some professional studios, some small teams, some independent developers, and some students. In our experience, many of the games on the show floor are not for sale as of the date of the expo.

Can I bring food?

We ask that food or drinks, save for CLOSED TOP drinks or clean, easy-to-carry foods (like granola bars), be kept off the show floor. Nothing greasy, nothing crumby, nothing messy! This space is not ours; it was donated to us, so we need to keep it clean if we want to keep this showcase running!

That being said, there will be a space set aside where those with food can eat it safely, because we get visited by yummy food trucks.

Can I show my own game/sell merch for my game while attending?

If you want to show a game, you should submit it on our Submissions page. We will ask people to take down any display we see them setting up without permission.

What if I need special accommodations?

Our building is equipped with ramps, elevators, and private rooms. Please email us at contact.DUGDS@gmail.com if you need to request any specific accommodations or have any questions.
